A Kind of You is a portrait series of captivated macaque monkeys in the streets of asian city. Animals are forced into roles as “actors” in street performances. Bound by chains and peering from behind masks evoke playfulness and innocence, as well as primal human fear: the terror of being enslaved, wholly controlled, at the mercy of forces greater than ourselves. They are an indictment of our own indifference to the suffering of others.
